Last updates Aug 2, 2024

The 9th AEPC Teaching Course on Paediatric Arrhythmias was arranged in Helsinki, Finland, on June 14-15, as a joint effort between the AEPC Working Group of Dysrhythmias and Electrophysiology and Finnish Cardiac Society. The biannual course was attended by almost 100 participants from 19 countries and an international faculty of 24 speakers from 10 countries.

The course provided an overview of basic aspects in arrhythmia diagnosis and treatment, as well as treatment of inherited arrhythmia syndromes, arrhythmias in congenital heart disease, and therapy with cardiac implantable electrical devices. The aim of the course was to provide the participants with knowledge on practical aspects of arrhythmia treatment, not forgetting the latest scientific developments. In addition to formal lecture sessions, there were 12 interactive workshops with very active discussions between the presenters and the participants.

Three best abstracts sent for the abstract competition were picked for presentation: Transvenous Leads in Mid-sized Children - No Rationale for Anticoagulation? by Yannic Wilberg from Bad Oyenhausen, Germany; Wearable Devices in Paediatric Cardiology by Hidde J. Hardon from Rotterdam, The Netherlands; and International Paediatric Brugada Registry by Christine Stratmann from Munich, Germany. The competition was won by Hidde J. Hardon, who will receive a grant of EUR 500  for expenses for participation at the 2025 AEPC Annual Meeting in Hamburg, Germany.

The AEPC Teaching Course on Paediatric Arrhythmias is a biannual event that was organised for the first time in Leipzig, Germany, in 2007. The tenth edition will take place in 2026, and the location is to be announced in due time on the AEPC website.
